BCB to discuss BPL payment issues

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has called a meeting on Monday in order to solve the payment issues of foreign players in the second season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The Pakistan Cricket Board has mentioned some tough conditions on sending their players. They want a written contract for the Pakistan tour and the Tigers' participation in their upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Though PCB statements on cancelling the Pakistan tour and BPL issues are available on different media, they have not confirmed anything to BCB yet.

"We will fix things after waiting one or two more days," BCB President Nazmul Hassan said on Saturday.

On the other hand, foreign cricketers want 25 percent of their contract fee before arriving in Bangladesh following their bitter experiences of the last season. Though the second season is on the verge of kicking off, the 25 percent of the contracted fee has not been paid yet.

BPL Governing Council General Secretary I H Mallik said: "Franchises have already started paying the contracted players 25 percent to the board."

However, Professional Cricketers' Association Chief Executive Angus Porter complained that no commitment has been fulfilled yet ahead of the BPL season.

"Only five days are left to start the second season. They pledged for advance contracts with the players but they have not done it yet. It is not seemingly possible before the kick-off," he said.

"Maybe some foreign players will participate but they will have to go through an uncertain future," he added.

Though dues of the foreign players for the first season were paid, local players have not been cleared yet. Some have refused to sign the No Objection Certificate (NOC) until outstanding payments are made.

 Online ticket sales underway

Online ticket sales for the competition started on Sunday.

"Tickets will be available at 21 branches of Premier Bank around the capital and at all outlets of Airtel from Jan 14," CEO of Active Services Asadur Rahman Rana told bdnews24.com.

"Ten percent of the tickets will be available online at www.activeservice.net and www.easy.bd.com. Premier Bank and Airtel will get 30 percent each and another 10 percent will go at the venue," Rana added.

The lowest ticket price of this season is Tk. 350. But the students and Airtel users will get it for Tk. 245 on 30 percent waver.

Active Services bought the ticketing rights for Tk 200 million.
